Livin' on a prayer.

I made the leap. Went out into the world with nothing but an idea that I could sustain myself.

I moved out. In this economy. Somehow in between daydreaming and finishing school, I became an adult. Who would have thought? And more than that, I became an adult that had to leave the bird's nest. Fly the coup. Say goodbye to free food.

And I come bearing complaints and questions and advice. And more complaints, especially to people who have moved out on their own before me.

Why didn't y'all tell me house hunting is the fun part? Because its all a money vaccum cleaner after that.
That I should have enjoyed the looking and the "princess treatment" all the agents and landlords and caretakers were giving me to woo me to pick their place.
The walking, the credit I used calling and calling, all the contacts I saved.

Then once I found a house, why didn't anyone tell me that pad locks are expensive?
And that mattresses are more expensive than beds.
That transport will fail you and end up being way more than you bargained or budgeted for. And worse, they will treat your things like trash.
Who warned me? None of you! For Shame. To the stocks with you lot! We will throw tomatoes and rotten vegetables at you as we shout,
"Shame!"

Anyway, I come bearing advice. As a recently pilfered soul. For everyone else who hasn't moved out.
1. The money you have budgeted for is not nearly enough. It will never be enough, unless you are the chosen one or you have accounted for a large miscelaneous budget.

2. House warmings are not necessary, but you might also want to celebrate your milestone into adulting, If your friends are anything like mine, they will bring food, and the plates to put the food on.

3. The feeling of finally having all your things in the house will be completely overtaken my the amount of unpacking and settling in you have to do. Because of this, you might forget to celebrate. Please do.

4. You might need to recover for a while from moving, and that is completely fine.

5. You get to sign a lease and that will definitely make you feel more like an adult. Its also an important document, take a photo, just in case.

6. Bed frames are cheaper than mattresses. Which is just convenient considering that you need one more than the other
..

7. You don't need chairs... Chairs are for the weak.

8. Shop in bulk if you can, wholesale places are cheaper than supermarkets...

9. You are doing the best you can and I believe in you. Don't let the prices get you down.

And hey, Keep your head up kid!
